The northern tier of the Wappinger Greenway Trail consists of an 11-mile, figure-eight loop hike of on- and off-road trails, encircling lower Wappinger Creek and Wappinger Lake. The white-blazed walking route links natural, historic, industrial, and business districts in the Town of Wappinger, the Village of Wappingers Falls, and the Town of Poughkeepsie.
The southern tier of the Greenway Trail system meanders through the town’s waterfront areas of the Wheeler Hill Historic District and the Chelsea hamlet. The trail links historic, cultural, natural and economic resources of local and regional significance. It is a key segment in the Hudson River Valley Greenway System.
