The Sports Museum of Dutchess County highlights the careers of the County's greatest athletes. Along with biographical information about the athletes and historical facts there are artifacts and memorabilia on display, including a bat used by Detroit Tigers legend Ty Cobb, golf great Arnold Palmer's autograph and a 1920s ice yacht, along with items from some of Dutchess County's biggest sports stars, including U.S. National Men's Soccer Team captain and soccer pro Tyler Adams, who attended Ketcham High School; former NBA star for the Indiana Pacers Rik Smits, who attended Marist College; Major League Baseball player Joe Panik, a member of the 2014 World Series champion San Francisco Giants who attended John Jay High School; Olympic figure skater Debi Thomas, a bronze medalist in 1988 and a Wappingers Falls native; and former world light-heavyweight boxing champion Melio Bettina of Beacon. On April 29, 2023, the Museum celebrated the grand opening of the Ralph Holt Youth Learning Center, which features a sports research center complete with computers and more.
