Tour the only National Historic Site dedicated to a first lady of the United States, "Val-Kill" was the home of Eleanor Roosevelt from 1945-1962. Here, Franklin and Eleanor entertained friends, state visitors, the press, and their associates.

Free guided tours of Val-Kill Cottage are available seasonally. Advance registration is not available, and tickets are issued on a first-come, first-served basis at the Stone Cottage Visitors Center. On the property you can stroll through the Eleanor Roosevelt memorial garden grounds and hiking trails. 

NOTE: As of Oct. 1, 2025, this site is temporarily closed due to the government shutdown. However, you can still learn about and celebrate the fascinating history of Dutchess County at the many other historic sites and attractions that are open to the public. Click here to learn more.
