Live Music at the Towne Crier Cafe - John Gorka

John Gorka is one of America’s preeminent singer-songwriters. Rolling Stone called him “...the leading singer/songwriter of the New Folk movement” that emerged in the early 1990s. Inspired early on by legendary folk troubadours like Stan Rogers, Eric Andersen, Tom Paxton and Claudia Schmidt, John began performing his own songs and traveled to New York City, where Jack Hardy’s legendary Fast Folk circle (a breeding ground for many a major singer-songwriter) became a powerful source of education and encouragement.
