Up In One Productions presents the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical "Come From Away" at the CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck.
At 9:26 a.m. on September 11, 2001, the Federal Aviation Administration shut down U.S. airspace in response to terrorist attacks, forcing all inbound planes to find alternate destinations. In total, 38 planes were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, and the hospitable residents of the small Canadian town greeted all 7,000 passengers with food, clothing and open hearts. Told with music, humor, and warmth, "Come From Away" highlights the relationships formed when spirited locals and global passengers come together to embrace empathy, generosity, and shared humanity. "Come From Away" was written by Canadian writing duo Irene Sankoff and David Hein, who conducted extensive interviews with the residents and passengers to create the show.
The show will run Oct. 30–Nov. 22 with performances on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
