For one weekend only, audiences are invited to venture into Beacon’s historic Howland Cultural Center for two stories of suspense where things are not quite what they seem to be.

• Act 1: "Trifles" by Susan Glaspell
A pioneering, feminist mystery. When a local farmer is found dead, investigators dismiss the domestic kitchen — unaware that two women are piecing together clues hidden in plain sight.

• Act 2: "The Signal-Man" (Adapted from Charles Dickens by Cristina Noelle)
A Gothic tale of supernatural suspense. Deep in a dark railway cutting, a lone signalman is haunted by a relentless phantom warning of catastrophe.
