Come discover the Revolutionary history that is literally all around among the stones, stories, and patriots of New Hackensack Cemetery, as well as other hidden places in the town at this free family-friendly event! Come any time during event hours.
On this special day at the New Hackensack Cemetery, attendees will meet a patriot buried there who served in Colonel Brinckerhoffs Dutchess County Militia, Second Regiment, and learn more about his life and the lives and contributions of other patriots buried there. Explore the fascinating world of colonial headstones and learn what the symbols and inscriptions mean. You'll also learn how to safely clean and care for historic tombstones. Younger history detectives will enjoy a special scavenger hunt designed just for them.
Plus, pick up your free copy of the Wappingers Historical Society's new guidebook, "Wappinger Revolutionary Roots: History, Heroes, and Hidden Places," to learn more about the people and places that connect the Town of Wappinger to America's fight for independence.
Rain date: Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12, same time.
