Special Play Reading at Tivoli Village Hall: "The Country Girl"

Tangent Theatre Company presents their spotlight fall play reading — "The Country Girl," by celebrated playwright Clifford Odets — to be held at Tivoli Village Hall on Saturday, Oct. 3 (6 p.m.), and Sunday, Oct. 4 (3 p.m.), with an encore show Monday, Oct. 5 (6 p.m.).

Synopsis: A visionary young theater director aims to give one more chance to a once-acclaimed, now washed-up, alcoholic actor. His main obstacle? The actor’s quiet and self-effacing wife. Go behind the scenes of the Broadway theater world and experience themes of celebrity, failure, addiction and complex relationships. Written in 1950, "The Country Girl" was made famous as a movie adaptation starring Bing Crosby, William Holden and Oscar-winner Grace Kelly as the wife, Georgie Elgin.
