The Pleasant Valley Historical Society will launch a unique three-part presentation series, A Creative Revolution: 250 Years of Music, Craftsmanship, and Scientific Discovery, with an engaging program featuring acclaimed jazz trumpeter and educator and longtime Pleasant Valley resident Bob Arthurs. For more than five decades, Arthurs has performed, taught, and immersed himself in the world of American music. Now, as a longtime member of the Pleasant Valley community, he will bring that remarkable experience home for an evening that connects history, craftsmanship, and music. During the presentation, Arthurs will explore the fascinating design of musical instruments from the 18th and 19th centuries, examining how their construction influenced the sounds they produced. He will then bring the story into the 20th century with live trumpet demonstrations, illustrating the innovative jazz styles that helped shape American music. Music lovers, history enthusiasts, families, educators, students, and community members are encouraged to attend.
