Wassaic Project Hosts Closing Reception for Summer Art Exhibit: "Because, now is the time of monsters"

Please join the Wassaic Project for the Closing Reception of its 2026 Summer Exhibition, Because, now is the time of monsters. Art Nest, the Wassaic Project's drop-in art-making space for children and their caregivers, will be running from 12–5 p.m. The afternoon programming opens with artist talks from 2–3 p.m. inside Maxon Mills featuring Dennis Gordon, Jessica Hargreaves, Ace Lehner, McKinzie Trotta, and Heather Renée Russ. From 3–5 p.m., the September artists-in-residence will welcome visitors for Open Studios in the Luther Barn, running alongside Ace Lehner's performance, Barbershop: The Art of Queer Failure, at Maxon Mills from 3:30–5 p.m.

Wassaic Project is a nonprofit artist run gallery in a refurbished grain elevator in the hamlet of Wassaic. Their gallery, called Maxon Mills, is seven stories tall. This exhibition, Because now is the time of monsters, features 39 artists and over 200 artworks.
