Walkway Connections for Kids: Forests and Boatbuilding

Head to the Walkway Over the Hudson's East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie, as Caitlin Chung of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater makes it easy for kids to connect forest ecology and the growth patterns of various trees to the properties of their woods. She’ll then talk about how shipwrights utilize these different woods for different purposes when building wooden boats, drawing examples from the construction and ongoing maintenance of the Sloop Clearwater.

Caitlin is an environmental educator with the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. She grew up in Albany, studied Environmental Studies at Yale University, and is happy to be back in the Hudson Valley. All Walkway Connections events are free to attend and appropriate for all ages.
