"Hollywood Goes to War" Film Series at the FDR Library: "They Were Expendable"

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum continues its year-long film series “Hollywood Goes to War, 1941-1945” with a screening of the 1945 film "They Were Expendable," starring John Wayne and Robert Montgomery as PT-boat commanders in the Pacific during World War II. Montgomery was, in real life, a Pacific PT-boat commander and a Bronze Star recipient. And Wayne creates a portrait of patriotic resolve as only he can.
