This Powerhouse Theater 40th anniversary summer season at Vassar College features another superb lineup of imaginative and insightful plays, workshops and works-in-progress. Powerhouse has been a launching pad for emerging artists and their groundbreaking works. In fact, the 2016 Tony Award winners for Best Play and Best Musical — Stephen Karam’s "The Humans" and Lin Manuel Miranda’s "Hamilton" — both trace their roots to Powerhouse. Perhaps one of this year's productions will be the next big smash!

"A Simple Herstory"

• Returning for a rare third residency at Powerhouse, "A Simple Herstory" is the acclaimed genre-blurring performance project exploring the more than 100 women who have run for President of the United States. This newest installment returns to Margaret Chase Smith and the volatile political climate surrounding mid-20th century Republican Party politics.

• Venue: Powerhouse Theater

• Performances: July 24, 8 p.m.; July 26, 2 p.m.
