New York Stage and Film has been an incubator for emerging and established artists and their work since 1985, and this summers festival on Marist Universitys scenic riverfront campus features four weeks full of imaginative and insightful plays and musicals. Hundreds of artists trace their developmental roots to New York Stage and Film, including the Tony Award winners "Hamilton" (Lin-Manuel Miranda), "Hadestown" (Anais Mitchell), "The Humans" (Stephen Karam), and "Doubt" (John Patrick Shanley).
"Daylight"
"Daylight" is a new play based on the real-life story of Joe Garcia, a man who served 21 years in prison for murder. Framed by the pop music that sustained him during that dark time, and developed in collaboration with Garcia over two years (and counting!), the play explores accountability, true love, and the soul-saving power of pop.
Note: This performance will be fully bilingual in American Sign Language and spoken English.
Venue: Symphonic Hall at Marist University, Poughkeepsie
