N.Y. Stage and Film Summer Season at Marist: "Paper Menagerie" at the Bardavon (Musical Workshop)

New York Stage and Film has been an incubator for emerging and established artists and their work since 1985, and this summer’s festival on Marist University’s scenic riverfront campus features four weeks full of imaginative and insightful plays and musicals. Hundreds of artists trace their developmental roots to New York Stage and Film, including the Tony Award winners "Hamilton" (Lin-Manuel Miranda), "Hadestown" (Anais Mitchell), "The Humans" (Stephen Karam), and "Doubt" (John Patrick Shanley).

"Paper Menagerie"

• In "Paper Menagerie," based on the short story “The Paper Menagerie” by Ken Liu, a biracial son struggles to understand an enduring rift with his Chinese immigrant mother. Through ancestral magic and an array of paper animals which his mother breathes to life on stage, this new musical explores the magic that is possible when what was left unsaid is finally heard.
