N.Y. Stage and Film Summer Season at Marist: "Unmoored"

New York Stage and Film has been an incubator for emerging and established artists and their work since 1985, and this summer’s festival on Marist University’s scenic riverfront campus features four weeks full of imaginative and insightful plays and musicals. Hundreds of artists trace their developmental roots to New York Stage and Film, including the Tony Award winners "Hamilton" (Lin-Manuel Miranda), "Hadestown" (Anais Mitchell), "The Humans" (Stephen Karam), and "Doubt" (John Patrick Shanley).

"Unmoored"

• Full of murder, sexual intrigue, and betrayal, "Unmoored" is a prequel to "Othello, The Moor of Venice." The teenage Othello, born into a royal household in his native country of Morocco, must learn to navigate a court full of ruthless power players, including his mother. This cheeky origin story explores the connection between jealousy, violence toward women, and war though the lens of one of Shakespeare’s most controversial tragic heroes.
