Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College: "pits" Play Reading

This Powerhouse Theater 40th anniversary summer season at Vassar College features another superb lineup of imaginative and insightful plays, workshops and works-in-progress. Powerhouse has been a launching pad for emerging artists and their groundbreaking works. In fact, the 2016 Tony Award winners for Best Play and Best Musical — Stephen Karam’s "The Humans" and Lin Manuel Miranda’s "Hamilton" — both trace their roots to Powerhouse. Perhaps one of this year's productions will be the next big smash!

• Set inside an underfunded American public middle school, two eighth-grade boys spiral down dark internet rabbit holes while their first-year teacher struggles to keep up with a mandated “social-emotional learning” curriculum and a generation of kids raised by algorithms.
