The Art Effect Presents the PKX Festival (2 Days)

The Art Effect presents the 2026 PKX Festival, a free celebration produced by local teens featuring a dynamic mix of visual art, international youth films, live hip-hop performances, and hands-on activities for all ages. At the heart of this event is the Poughkeepsie Board of Artistic Youth, a group of teens who advocate for art, entrepreneurship, and youth voices to be valued in community leadership.

Friday, April 24, 5:30–8 p.m. (rain or shine)
• Teen Art Exhibit (Carole J. Wolf Gallery): A dynamic collection of over 30 multimedia artworks created by young artists from around the Hudson Valley!
• International Film Showcase (On The Art Effect’s lawn): Bring your lawn chair or blanket and view a selection of eight short films by talented young filmmakers from around the world! Awards will be presented, and you’ll have a chance to ask the artists questions. (Will be held indoors in the event of rain).

Saturday, April 25, 1–5 p.m. (rain date April 26)
• Art-Making Activities, Performances, Food Trucks, and Resources (around The Art Effect’s Pershing Neighborhood): Activities include a tug-of-war, hip-hop trivia, and a classic egg spoon race. Enjoy interactive art-making activities like creating your own mini plushie, slime-making, face-painting, and graffiti-style chalk drawing. Enjoy the sounds of DJ BLVD and come dressed in your best golden age hip-hop-inspired outfit for a chance to win the Best Dressed contest.
