County Players, one of the longest-running community theatre companies in the area, is proud to present the American Comedy “The Dining Room” by A.R. Gurney. This Main Stage production, directed by Christine Crawfis, runs from Nov. 7–22 with performances scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays (Nov. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22) at 8 p.m. and matinees on Sunday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. (there will be two shows on Nov. 22).
Synopsis: Change is on the menu. Set in the dining room of a typical mid-20th century household, this brilliantly conceived and richly humorous theatrical tour de force showcases the now neglected room which was once the vital center of family life. In a mosaic of interrelated scenes — some funny, some touching — an ensemble of actors creates an in-depth portrait of a vanishing lifestyle. A theatrical experience of exceptional range, compassionate humor and abundant humanity, "The Dining Room" displays the neglected room in all its splendor, with the glassware, silverware and tablecloth used by generations past.
