County Players, one of the longest-running community theatre companies in the area, presents the CP2 Series Readers Theatre Mini-Festival #1 Oct. 35.
CP2 Readers Theatre is an exciting series at County Players which offers an opportunity for actors, directors, and audience members to experience theater in a fresh way: selected plays with full dramatic readings, no costumes, no sets, no props, and the actors perform with scripts in hand. These shows are an incredible opportunity to experience great theater stripped to its essence: the playwrights words.
Reading #1: Misery by William Goldman, based on the novel by Stephen King and directed by Jeffrey Battersby, will be presented Friday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. What happens when a successful romance novelist is rescued from a car crash by his number one fan? He finds himself captive in her secluded home with a life-threatening request to rewrite his new novel. This nail-biting cat-and-mouse game will have you at the edge of your seat. The cast features the local talents of Erich Dingman, Erin Hebert, Glen Macken, and Bruce Pileggi.
Reading #2: "Dracula" by Stephen Dietz, based on the novel by Bram Stoker and directed by David J. Ringwood, will be presented Saturday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror. Local actors appearing include Kevin Barnes, Craig Patrick Browne, George Burns, Thomas Byrne, Matthew DeHond, Ana Hein, Aaron Heisler, Jessica Rose Markman, Rebecca Nagle, and Juno Delaney VanWeelden.
