Revolution, broadly defined, refers to systemic political change through mass mobilization of people who did not previously hold the levers of government power. But is that how common people understood and experienced "revolution" when, or if, it swept through their neighborhoods?

This talk, titled "Reduced to the Necessity of a Government by Congresses & Committees: Everyday Governance Amid Revolution in Northeast Dutchess County," will examine how revolutionary change occurred in relation to government institutions by looking at northeastern Dutchess County between 1774 and 1777. This event will be held at the Stanford Free Library.

This event is funded by Dutchess County government
