New York Stage and Film has been an incubator for emerging and established artists and their work since 1985, and this summer’s 40th annual festival on Marist University’s scenic riverfront campus features four weeks full of imaginative and insightful plays and musicals. Hundreds of artists trace their developmental roots to New York Stage and Film, including the Tony Award winners "Hamilton" (Lin-Manuel Miranda), "Hadestown" (Anais Mitchell), "The Humans" (Stephen Karam), and "Doubt" (John Patrick Shanley).
"Shelter"
• With an infectious score that sounds like the city itself, "Shelter" is the unforgettable story about the often-unseen New York and one determined young woman's struggle to succeed against impossibly stacked odds.
