New York Stage and Film has been an incubator for emerging and established artists and their work since 1985, and this summer’s 40th annual festival on Marist University’s scenic riverfront campus features four weeks full of imaginative and insightful plays and musicals. Hundreds of artists trace their developmental roots to New York Stage and Film, including the Tony Award winners "Hamilton" (Lin-Manuel Miranda), "Hadestown" (Anais Mitchell), "The Humans" (Stephen Karam), and "Doubt" (John Patrick Shanley).

"Backyard Boys"

Fifteen years after the height of their boy band popularity, the Backyard Boys are making a comeback! Or so they are told by producer Dianca Prescott Carter Jr., from the Prescott Carter Media Dynasty. The comeback album will be accompanied by a behind-the-scenes documentary, which the boys learn is actually a reality competition show, in which just one of the four will get to debut as a solo artist.

• Venue: Nelly Goletti Theatre at Marist University

• Performance: July 13, 2 p.m.
