The Spark presents the inaugural "Transforming Food" film festival at the Gardiner Theater at the Trinity-Pawling School March 8 and 9.
A panel featuring local chefs, farmers and food advocacy experts will follow the screenings on Sunday. The panel discussion will be moderated by Sam Petersson, a Pawling resident and graduate student at the Culinary Institute of America, with the following panelists: Kristen Essig, Culinary Director at Stonewood Farm; Blake Myers, Director of Food Programs at Tri Corner FEED; Kyle Nosinger, owner of Maple View Farm; Mark Margiotta, chef at Pretty To Think So; and Alex Vaughn and Trixie Wessel, co-managers of Obercreek Farm.
Snacks provided by local makers will be served in the lobby during breaks between films. Choose what you want to attend or come for the entire festival.
Festival schedule
March 8
11 a.m., Screening of Ruth Reichl's feature length film "Food and Country."
1 p.m., Screening of three 40-minute films from Danish chef Rene Redzepi's "Omnivore" series: "Salt," "Corn," and "Tuna."
3:15 p.m., Q&A following screenings.
March 9
12 p.m., Screening of "Organic Rising," a feature-length film by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Anthony Suau.
2:15 p.m., "Fixing Food" film shorts from Bullfrog Films (three films, 12 minutes each).
3 p.m., Discussion moderated by Sam Petersson.
