The Beatrix Farrand Garden Association will hold its 17th annual Bellefield Design Lecture at the Wallace Center, FDR National Historic Site, which is located next to the historic Beatrix Farrand Garden. This year's speaker is Jonathan Kavalier, Director of Gardens and Grounds at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C., Beatrix Farrand's garden design masterpiece.

Jonathan Kavalier will present "The Next Century of Stewardship at Dumbarton Oaks," an exploration of Dumbarton Oaks, its design history and management over the past century, and current guiding principles that are influencing future stewardship preservation priorities. Jonathan will discuss the challenges and opportunities of maintaining historical gardens in the 21st century and share the ongoing efforts to preserve and ensure their relevance for the future.
On the same day, BFGA will offer to lecture attendees a free showing of the documentary film, "Beatrix Farrand's American Landscapes," and a book signing with Jonathan in the garden. Floral arrangements will be available by donation, as well as free tours of the Beatrix Farrand Garden, the local historic garden designed by Beatrix Farrand, conducted by volunteer greeters.
