Gallery 40's latest exhibition. "Talisman," explores the world of magic and dreams where boundaries between illusion and reality are fading into each other.

The purpose is for the visitor to escape reality and enter a space where class, race, gender, and power politics are transcended, and everyone is instead nurtured by the supernatural elements present in all cultures across distance and time. Because, from time to time, everyone needs some form of talismanic protection.

• Participating artists: Jennifer Axinn-Weiss, Paola Bari, Mary Ann Glass, Jennifer Prevatt, Andres San Millan, Lisa Winika.
• On display: March 15–April 27.
• Gallery hours: Weekdays 9 a.m.–4 p.m., weekends 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
• Opening reception: Saturday, March 15, 5–7 p.m.
• Conversation with the artists: Sunday, April 6, 2–4 p.m. (moderated by Nansi Lent).
