CENTERstage Productions presents "A Christmas Carol," a heartwarming adaptation of Charles Dickens timeless classic. Running from Dec. 622 at The Center for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck, this cherished holiday tradition takes on even deeper meaning this year.
For more than 15 years, the late Lou Trapani, founding Artistic and Managing Director of The Center, captivated audiences with his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge. In contrast to Scrooges selfish nature, Lou was a man of extraordinary generosity, a passionate advocate for the arts, and a guiding force for countless young performers. Lou, who passed away this July, was instrumental in creating this unique adaptation for The Center, seamlessly blending Dickens timeless story with beloved Christmas carols to create the perfect family-friendly performance.
This years performance marks the first without Lou on stage or directing, but his enduring legacy shines brightly under the masterful eye of his longtime partner and skilled director, Emily DePew, with the talents of Rik Lopes and David Foster as Scrooge. With musical direction by Paul and JoAnne Schubert, this adaptation will have audiences of all ages humming along to their favorite carols.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. on Sundays. There will be performances at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Dec. 21.
