Springside is a 20-acre designed landscape and historic site that was once the county estate of Matthew Vassar and is the only landscape of Andrew Jackson Downing to survive largely intact. Today, the National Historic Landmark is a historic site on the Hudson River Valley Greenway Trail. Recent excavation of the Gardener's Cottage unearthed a poem that local scholars believe contains the clues to Matthew Vassar's hidden treasure at Springside. Join volunteers of Springside Landscape Restoration for a guided tour of the historic landscape and receive a copy of the treasure hunt poem and site map for further exploration and amusement. Springside is open every day from dawn until dusk.
