This famous adaptation of the fantasy novel by L. Frank Baum proved to be a launching pad for the career of child star Judy Garland. Garlands performance as Dorothy a girl trying to navigate the mysterious land of Oz with the help of a wild cast of characters is one of the most well-known and celebrated in the history of family-oriented films. "The Wizard of Oz" is also celebrated for its groundbreaking use of Technicolor and unforgettable musical numbers. While it has become a mainstay on television during the holiday season, its many charms and visual flair are best experienced on the big screen.
