Live 4 Art Gallery presents "Connected," an exhibition of the works of two celebrated international master Afghan artists who have resettled in America following the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban in 2021. "Connected" features the artwork of contemporary calligrapher Alibaba Awrang and seventh-generation potter Matin Malikzada.
Both artists, who, with their families are now on the path to U.S. citizenship, have relaunched their distinguished artistic careers in their new homeland. In Kabul, Afghanistan, Awrang headed the Calligraphy and Miniature Painting Department and Malikzada the Ceramics department of the Turquoise Mountain Institute, an NGO founded in 2006 by King Charles III to preserve the countrys cultural heritage. Recently, the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury exhibited their work in "Uprooted: From Afghanistan to Connecticut."
