"No Hope for Oz" is a comedic review of the tragedy of growing up. In her debut performance, writer Heather DellAmore explores the relationship between upbringing and those being raised. A childhood tethered to 90s programming, Heather tells the truth about bad hair, big glasses, and "Unsolved Mysteries." She looks for light in Lilith Fair singers and finds unexpected darkness when the road leads her to Rome, N.Y.
Staying true to its name, the show never lands in an emerald city; the second act more a poppy field of paralysis than the "girl power" of Heathers youth. Watch her as if a bizarro rerun tell the truth about bad latches, bad parenting, and broken mirrors. Lilith Fair singers curiously absent in Heathers adulthood.
Beyond the rich nostalgia and the light humor is a story about unpacking who you are and when you come from. Its ultimately a warning not to turn away from your past or your mother.
Heather DellAmore is an up-and-coming writer/performer who is fully aware how strange that is at 40. Based in New Yorks Hudson Valley, she can be found performing at open mics and studying with Hudson Valley Improv. After winning her first Moth StorySlam, Heather debuted an extended version of that story at The Phoenicia Festival of the Arts in 2023. She hosts a personal journal podcast for locals and volunteers her time for various causes in her community.
