County Players, one of the longest-running community theater companies in the area, will present its Mini-Festival #3 in the CP2 Series Readers Theatre March 3-5 at County Players Falls Theatre in Wappingers Falls. Reading 1, "Constellations" by Nick Payne and directed by Christine Crawfis, will be performed on March 3 at 8 p.m. and March 4 at 4 p.m. Reading 2, "Ada and the Engine" by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Parker Reed will be performed on March 4 at 8 p.m. and March 5 at 2 p.m. “Constellations” and “Ada and the Engine” are presented by special arrangement with Dramatists’ Play Service.

Reading #1, “Constellations”
One relationship. Infinite possibilities. A story of love, honey and a quantum multiverse. Moment by moment, can everything you’ve ever and never done exist in the same vortex of reality? Elegant and playful yet profoundly moving, “Constellations” blends the everyday and the ethereal, the actual and the imaginable, revealing that every outcome may only be the first link in a chain of cosmic consequences. The cast includes the local regional performers Mary Beth Boylan, Michele George, Glen Morrice and Dylan Parkin.

Reading 2, "Ada and the Engine”
As the British Industrial Revolution dawns, young Ada Byron Lovelace sees the boundless creative potential in the “analytic engines” of her friend and soulmate Charles Babbage, inventor of the first mechanical computer. Ada envisions a whole new world where art and information converge. Jane Austen meets Steve Jobs in this poignant pre-tech romance heralding the computer age. The cast features the talents of Jeff Battersby, Matt Bowen, Susan Gies, Janet Nurre, Stevie Reed and Scott Woolley.

CP2 Readers Theatre is an exciting series at County Players which offers an opportunity for actors, directors and audience members to experience theater in a fresh way: selected plays with full dramatic readings, no costumes, no sets, no props, and the actors perform with scripts in hand. These shows are an incredible opportunity to experience great theater stripped to its essence: the playwright’s words.

Tickets: Reserved seating is $15 per reading, $20 to attend both readings on the same weekend, and are available online or in advance at the door. Visit the County Players website and at the top of the main page, select "buy tickets." Ticket options are limited to mobile/digital or print-at-home only, as no printed tickets will be available for “will call” until further notice.

Protocols regarding Covid: Proof of vaccination is no longer required for audience members, and masks are optional but are strongly encouraged.

Accessibility: If you require wheelchair accessibility, please contact the box office at (845) 298-1491.
