To commemorate Juneteenth, Upstate Films presents the film "Akeelah and the Bee." The winner of four Black Movie Awards, including Best Picture, "Akeelah and the Bee" tells the story of 11-year-old Akeelah Anderson, who lives in South Los Angeles, and her dream to compete in the National Spelling Bee.
