Come and enjoy a week-long celebration of Mexican culture and traditions during Oaxaca Week in Poughkeepsie. Throughout the week of July 29-Aug. 5, there will be exhibits, workshops and programs in various locations in Poughkeepsie featuring Mexican textiles, artwork, crafts and food.

The public is invited to the opening reception at the Trolley Barn (489 Main Street) on July 29 from 4-6 p.m. Food will be served that highlights the diverse culinary traditions of the Oaxacan region. The curator, Nora Isela Ortiz Muro, will present a talk at the Trolley Barn on Aug. 3 at 5 p.m.

The schedule of events also includes:

An exhibition of Oaxacan textiles showcasing authentic indigenous garments at the Trolley Barn, afternoons, July 30-Aug. 5.

An art exhibit featuring the work of six Oaxacan female artists at the MASS Design Group (289 Main Street), afternoons, July 30-Aug. 5.

Craft Workshops at Fall Kill Creative Works (485 Main Street).

Displays and programs at Adriance Memorial Library (93 Market Street).

An Oaxacan lunch and a talk on mezcal and other spirits at La Cabanita restaurant (763 Main Street), Aug. 4 at noon.

The La Guelaguetza festival at Waryas Park (Main Street) featuring Oaxacan dances, music and food.
