The second-annual Hudson Valley Rodeo is a family-friendly day of events featuring mutton bustin’, barrel racing, roping, bronc riding and bull riding - all capped off with an evening concert by award-winning country music star Brett Young!
The rodeo competition will begin at 3 p.m., as some of the best cowboys from the east compete against western cowboys in a nationwide competition of top hands. Doors open at noon, and there are plenty of pre-rodeo activities start the festivities, including rodeo clowns, a stick horse rodeo competition for kids, barrel racing demonstrations, a rodeo roping clinic, animal care conversations, face-painting, meet-and-greet photo opportunities with cowboys and cowgirls and music from local country music artists. There will be a variety of tasty treats and craft beverages from local food trucks, as well as local vendors.
The concert field opens at 6 p.m., with an opening act taking the stage at 7 p.m. Young, whose West Coast-meets-Southern sound propelled his self-titled debut album to platinum status, is scheduled to begin his show at 8 p.m.
