And So I Stayed is an award-winning documentary about survivors of abuse fighting for their lives and spending years behind bars. This is the story of how the legal system gets domestic violence wrong. It is a moving portrait of three survivors whose strikingly similar stories are separated by over 30 years. None of them were believed, and each of them was criminalized for fighting back. This screening is a fundraising event hosted by the Nicole Addimando Community Defense Committee. All proceeds from the screening will directly benefit Nikki and her children. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a screening of the film at 6 and a question-and-answer session at 8 with directors Daniel A. Nelson and Natalie Pattillo, Nikkis sister, as well as advocate and writer Michelle Horton, and previously incarcerated domestic-violence survivor and advocate Kim Dadou Brown (who are both in the film).
